I am still a bit confused with the procedure. please let me know if this is correct:
    1)prepare teeth
    2)PVS impression, send to lab
3)what does the patient go home with after prep?? composite restoration?? (i am very unsure of intermediate restoration)
4)final cementing of porcelain veneers from lab

    please clarify… thank you

Talk to me about the growing number of people who are complainig that veneers don’t stay on and then have to shell out money for crowns? Do you warn your patients about the failuire rate of veneers?

Did you know that the ADA and FDA CHOSE to NOT study failure rate of veneers, so no statistics are available?

Will you pay for your patients crowns if the veneers don’t work?

  17. jans993 says:

to us there is now growing number, if the are well bonded!
We working on this since the last 20 years. If this tecnic doesent work we wouldnt use it.

I think the preps are good. He even used the cord to control gingival contour. I don’t see why people think the prep is not enough, i believe in preping as minimum as possible, specially for venners. And as for the cementation, you gotta use the correct cement and always etch with acid. DO NOT SANDBLAST the venners, not even with glassbeads at 3 PSI. Once you sandblast, the venners lose almost 65% of their strenght and they can fracture or break in the mouth. And that is proven.

I think the preps are fine. He even use the cord to retract the gingiva and get a good impression of those margins. I believe in preping as little as possible, specially when dealing with venners. As for the bonding, you gotta use the right cement and always etch with the correct acid. NEVER SANDBLAST the venners. Not even at 3 BAR. Once you do that, the venners lose 65% of their strenght and may break or fracture in the mouth. And that is proven.
